 | New Thought is now a global phenomena, havings more denominations today than ever before. These denomininations of New Thought emphasize different aspects of this spiritual path.
| | Initially New Thought was purely a Christian Movement, but not long after the foundation of modern New Thought over a century ago, leaders such as Annie Rix Militz began to explore the congruency of other spiritual paths with Practical Christianity.
| | Modern New Thought began with a man named Phineas Quimby who was the first to rediscover the esoteric truths hidden in the abbrviated Gospels. His experiments with Mesmerism (later to be called hypnotism) led him to some miraculous healings. It was not long before he went on to discover principles that were even more potent. Quimby despised what he called "Priestcraft," a term that has also been used by the Mormons to describe Nicolationist church bureaucracies.
