Ten Commandments for Today
- See the Divine (God-Goddess-Spirit) in all things, living and non-living. Spirit is within all and all is One. We are all interconnected. We are all extensions of each other. What you do to yourself, you do to all.
- Don't make the Divine in your own human image as the Divine is all encompassing and beyond all.
- Think only lovingly of the Divine, everyone and everything as you create your reality with your thoughts.
- Every day is a holy day. Take some time each day to live in the moment, enjoying life and being one with spirit.
- Respect all living and non-living things and the Earth. Honor and respect everyone, including yourself, family, friends, pets, animals, the trees, and earth. See the beauty in all, be it a rock, a squirrel, or a simple sunset.
- Don't hurt, harm or injure any living thing. Have respect for all things and help them live. Don't eat animals; instead, eat vegetables and eat in moderation, thus minimizing the damage you do to other living things.
- Have sex (emotional or physical) with only those you love and have a committed relationship with. But remember, Love is not sex. Don't deceive your spouse or significant other. Stay emotionally and sexually committed to them. Where possible, conserve sexual energy and transform it into spiritual energy.
- Don't take for yourself, but for the good of others. To steal food to feed starving children is virtuous and brings you closer to the Divine. To steal for your own profit separates you from the Divine. It is the intention behind every action, and not the action itself, which creates karmic consequences. Remember, for every action (karma), there is a consequence.
- Don't lie to yourself or others lest you will never find your own inner truth. Don't judge yourself or others lest you create negative karmic consequences. Leave judgment to the Divine.
- Don't be attached to living or non-living things as they belong not to you but to the Divine. We have a right to use, respect and preserve them while on planet earth, but not to own them. Attachments also make it difficult to progress in our spiritual growth and even to depart this plain at the appointed time.
