Bosch Tarot The Bosch Tarot by A. Atanassov is based on the work of Hieronymus Bosch, a Dutch painter who lived from 1450-1516. Bosch is known for his fantastic, dream-like paintings, filled with grotesque figures and strange pursuits. Atanassov has taken key figures and scenes from these works and modified them to fit the tarot. For example, the Sun card (see below) shows two figures looking up at the sun in a lush landscape. In the original scene from the lower left corner of the central panel of Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights, the sun is a bird and other people are present. Atanassov has also added suit symbols to the scenes in the minor arcana so they can be identified as swords, wands, etc. Card names are given in five languages with Italian the main one. The Bosch Tarot has the same quality as Bosch's paintings - the ability to remind us of the hidden aspects of our shadow side.
