Gareth Knight Tarot Deck Gareth Knight is a English occultist and writer. In 1963 he met Dutch artist Sandor Littel, and together they decided to create this tarot deck, published in 1984. The Gareth Knight Tarot is based on Knight's study of older tarot decks and the Kabbalah. The images are simple, even severe, with clear, bright colors. In Knight's system, each minor arcana number is assigned a position on the Tree of Life. Numbered suit cards show symmetrical arrangements of the suit symbols. Knight changed the knight and page cards to prince and princess in order to balance the male/female ratio in the court cards. In this deck, the kings rather than the princes are mounted on horses.
