Tarot Suit Qualities

Each of the four suits in the tarot has its own special quality or energy. You can get a feel for these energies by looking over the word lists in this section. Each list has words that show the different facets of a suit's character. These words are just my suggestions. If your intuition guides you differently, trust your own impressions first.

There is a positive and negative list for each suit. This split is not ideal because it implies good and bad. In the tarot, qualities are neither good nor bad, they just are. We humans judge qualities based on their impact on us. Our language reflects these judgments, so we have positive and negative expressions for every quality. We also view traits differently depending on our circumstances. Is being aggressive positive or negative? It all depends.
