Napo Tarot

[picture of Empress] [picture of Knight of Cups] The Napo Tarot is the work of two Argentinians: author Betty Lopez and artist Napo. Their deck draws on the myth, culture and history of Argentina and reflects the vibrant and colorful atmosphere of this country. Characters in many of the cards are gauchos, women of the pueblos and other native figures. "The Hierophant is Old Vizcacha, a character from the book Martin Fierro, considered a 'Gaucho Bible'." The Magus is a rich gaucho of the pampas. The images are loosely based on the Rider-Waite model. Titles are in English and Spanish. Each numbered minor arcana card has a keyword meaning. The back of the cards show the Southern Cross, a major constellation in the southern hemisphere.
