The Hindus have names for the different aspects of God. Because they realize God is in everything, both animate and inanimate, they have over 1,000 names. Once a year, they celebrate the 1,000 names of God by lighting 1,000 candles.
T hey realize, like many other traditions, that God is All, from the tree, to the little mouse, to the gentle doe, to humans. They realize that these living things are not just God’s creations, but manifestations of God. They are each expressions of God.
Reluctantly, I admit even spiders and snakes, are expressions of God. Everything is!
know you realize this and I’m only telling you something you already know. God (Mother-Father God, Universal Intelligence, Allah, Great Spirit, etc.) who is in heaven and in our hearts, manifests in all living and non-living things, from the stone to the earth.
But why is the deer or the snake here, on this plane, in this solar system, on this planet?
Like us, they are expressions of God. Each one is God in action. They are expressions of God’s goodness, abundance, joy, and love.
I’m going to pick on trees…because we have so many of them. The tree blesses us with oxygen, shades us from the hot summer sun, and provides a kaleidoscope of summer and fall colors.
The tree, like all of God’s creatures, communicates with us, giving us important spiritual messages. The tree subtly tells us about the cycles of life and death. In spring it shows us birth, in summer how to live life to the fullest, and in fall how to withdraw into the death of winter…repeating the cycle…and in spring there is rebirth, again!!! Life anew…
We too are part of this cycle. I know you know.
You see God has left these great spiritual truths, these messages, for us to behold. God’s left them all in and about Nature. We only have to quiet ourselves and observe them. We’ve got to take the time. When was the last time you hugged a tree or sat on a rock to meditate? The only difference between the tree and us is that we have choice. We can choose how we express God. The tree, like most vegetation and lower life forms, is mostly preprogrammed.
