Welcome to our website - one of the world's religions dedicated to Awakening Humanity to Its Spiritual Magnificence. Whether we think of Religious Science as a religion or a way of life, it represents spiritual freedom. It doesn't idolize its founder or any of its champions. It simply reveals the truth about all individuals. We leave all people free to believe what they choose to believe without damning them for holding ideas that are different from our own. We are champions of the individual's right to live life according to his or her own concept and support all effort to live life constructively. We not only champion the right to think for ourselves, but encourage others to do the same. We are aware that the Truth's that we teach are taught by many other people, in many other ways, and we respect and support their ongoing success. If our teaching could be reduced to a simple statement it would be: WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS, LIVING IN A SPIRITUAL UNIVERSE, GOVERNED BY OUR USE OF A SPIRITUAL LAW. Or we might use something that Dr. Holmes, the founder of Religious Science wrote, "GOD IN MAN, AS MAN, IS MAN." Our churches, societies, and centers are all committed to awakening in you that which gives your life meaning and reminds you of your Spiritual Magnificence by teaching the Science of Mind®. I invite you to find Religious Science in your area and meet with people of like mind who are interested in making an investment in themselves and in so doing, influencing the world. This website is our gift to you! It will link you to Religious Science throughout the world. Thanks for stopping by. TODAY TOMORROW TOGETHER Rev. Dr. Holly A. Heinz Welcome to Religious Science - New Thought In Religious Science - New Thought we believe that we live in a Spiritual Universe, ruled by a creative intelligence which operates in a pattern of law and love that we can rely on. Sometimes we call this intelligence God or Divine Intelligence, but regardless of the name, it is constantly surrounding and supporting us. We are never separated from this Infinite Source. The philosophy of Religious Science is found in the Study of The Science of Mind® text written by Dr. Ernest Holmes which details the nature of our relationship with this Infinite Source, how it operates in our life, and how we can direct our thoughts and beliefs to produce the experiences we desire. As we gain understanding about our spiritual nature and the nature of the Universe, we gain control over our lives. By studying The Science of Mind® we come to understand that spiritual laws respond to our thinking, whether positive or negative. This is why your life will benefit immediately and directly from the mental exercise of replacing worry and fear with positive and optimistic thoughts of love. With practice, you will actually begin to see positive changes in the conditions of your life. The Science of Mind® philosophy taught at Religious Science churches and centers, is based on the work of Dr. Ernest Holmes, who was born in the late 1800's in rural New England. He immersed himself in the great philosophical minds of history, researched the world's religions, met and studied with the most brilliant minds of his time. This led him to a profound comprehension of basic truths-Dr. Holmes was able to understand and explain the basic principles of how the Universe operates and how God responds to us. Dr. Holmes recognized that the Universe operates through the Law of God and that… | |

You’ve heard the phrases, "Change Your thinking, change your life!" or "What our mind can conceive, we can achieve!" As Religious Scientists, we know this is true. Our thinking and our beliefs are the creative force in our lives, which is why classes and seminars offered at churches and centers focus on stretching our mental muscles, recognizing in every moment we have a choice about how we will do life, and the Universe always supports our choice. As one great teacher said, the seeds of failure grow as easily as the seeds of success. By applying Science of Mind® principles in our everyday life, we plant seeds of success, whether it is for health, wealth, creativity or relationships. ![]()
A powerful method for setting the creative process into motion is Spiritual Mind Treatment. This is a direct, focused, and organized form of affirmative prayer. It is called mind treatment because Dr. Holmes wanted to be sure everyone understood that this was a healing command, not a plea for mercy.
Spiritual healing is based on rediscovering truth and finding inner peace, that special contact with God or Divine Intelligence that is always there, but may be temporarily hidden from view. In Religious Science we believe that the presence of Divine Intelligence is always there, so grace and joy unfold in life in proportion to our recognition and acceptance of it.
Spiritual Mind Treatment is not faith healing or a get-rich-quick scheme. Treatment recognizes that Divine Intelligence is all knowing, all powerful, and everywhere present, and It responds to us. ![]()
Religious Science teaches how to discover the strength, power and courage that is inherent within each of us. In part we do this by learning how to listen to our own inner teacher, use the power of affirmative prayer, and study Universal Principles for successful living.
In studying the Science of Mind® philosophy, we expand our understanding of how the Spiritual Universe operates, which creates a positive expectation and increased faith in the ever-expanding process of life. Why? Because God, Spirit, the Universe, this Higher Power, whatever you want to call it, responds to positive practices with positive results. Throughout the wisdom of the ages, great teachers have said that God responds to us to the extent we recognize the power and the presence God in our life. ![]()
The Universe is fundamentally spiritual—it has intelligence, purpose, beauty, and order. Whether we call it God, Nature, Spirit, Energy, or Universal Intelligence, all emanates from this Spiritual Universe. —Dr. Ernest Holmes, The Science of Mind

What is Spiritual Mind Treatment, also known as Affirmative Prayer?
Treatment is the art, the act, and the science of consciously inducing thought...in its more simple meaning, treatment is the time, process, and method necessary to the changing of our thought. Treatment is clearing the thought of negation, of doubt and fear, and causing it to perceive the ever-presence of God. —Dr. Ernest Holmes

A New Way of Thinking
It has been said that Life is a classroom and we are all students. Religious Science International (RSI), through its member churches, offers you an opportunity to enroll in a series of accredited classes that will empower you to change your life…for good!
In 1926, Dr. Ernest Holmes authored the classic textbook The Science of Mind®. The ideas are based on universal principles taught by masters from every age. The premise is simple: we live in a spiritual universe which responds to our deepest thoughts and feelings. In essence, our thinking creates our experience.
If we want to change an experience, we must change our belief system (our way of thinking). We can't expect to change overnight. Because it has taken many years to create our current beliefs, we need a definite system to assist us in this exciting process.
The accredited Science of Mind® classes offered by this Church will give you the system and tools needed to absolutely transform your life! ![]()
Why Take Classes? Isn't coming to Church each Sunday enough?
The basic principles we study are profound, but not necessarily easy to embody and practice in our daily lives. Sunday morning is where we hear about our potential, but the classroom is where we experience practical application of the principles.
The ongoing process of regular Science of Mind® class attendance is where we begin to embody a true change in our consciousness. ![]()
What happens in class?
The dynamics in the Science of Mind® classes offer fertile ground for crowing new ideas. Each Science of Mind® class takes on an energy of its own which stimulates the individual's mind.
Through lectures, discussions, and workshops, the student learns how to personalize the same metaphysical principles used by spiritual masters throughout history. ![]()
Is there tuition for classes?
Yes. Taking a Science of Mind® class requires a commitment of both time and money. The truth is, little can be achieved without commitment. Your financial and emotional investment are important for change. ![]()
What will you learn?
What is the value of taking accredited classes?
A certificate of completion is issued at the conclusion of all classes when the attendance and other requirements have been met. After an individual has completed the required and accredited classes, he or she may be eligible to become a licensed Religious Science Practitioner or a Minister. ![]()

New Thought was called "The religion of healthy-mindedness" by William James. And that's really the truth! Sometimes confused with what is called "New Age" in the media, New Thought is actually the perennial philosophy, that thread of truth that is woven through all the world's great spiritual traditions. It's spirituality for the 21st century. The principles of New Thought are to be found in Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Zen, Hinduism, and many philosophical and theological works.
Of course, in the West, we love practicality. And it's the practical application of these principles that make all the difference. If you've ever watched Oprah Winfrey, and seen her interview a guest who explains a way to make your life better by changing your intentions, you've seen New Thought principles being taught. If you've read some of the works of Deepak Chopra, which focus on how to heal your body by healing your mind, or if you've seen Oprah Winfrey on television, then you've heard about New Thought.
There are so many ways to approach the Truth, there are many wonderful teachers in our world today offering a pathway to understanding and transformation. We invite you to join us in an ongoing exploration of these principles, and in learning to consistently and persistently apply them to your life.
The particular style of New Thought we teach, Religious Science, is based on the ideas to be found in Dr. Ernest Holmes' 1926 book The Science of Mind®. These ideas aren't new, of course! In fact, there were many influences on the formation of Religious Science. Dr. Holmes looked at the world's great religions and philosophy, at the scriptures from many traditions [the Bible, Upanishads, Vedas, Koran, and so on], and the best that science had to offer in his day. He read the works of Emerson and Thoreau, studied the mystics, and followed his own intuition. The result was a book that offered a practical and practicable way to approach spirituality that is free from dogma, from rigid rules or thinking, and totally contemporary today.![]()
What is Religious Science?
Religious Science is a powerful approach to spiritual living. It draws on both the knowledge of science and the timeless wisdom of all ages. It can be approached as a science, a philosophy and a spiritual path.
As a science, it is based on the theory that it is indeed done unto us as we believe. By learning to change our belief, we can scientifically change our life experience for the better. Using this principle-centered approach, individuals learn to expand their thinking, and live a fulfilling and meaningful life.
As a philosophy, Religious Science is a down-to-earth, easily applied way of thinking about the nature of the universe and our relationship to it. Rather than seeing ourselves as separate from the universal creative presence, we see ourselves as part of it— free to celebrate our true nature and express the unlimited creative potential within us.
As a spiritual path, Religious Science is a metaphysical approach to the universal truths revealed in all the world's major religions. Instead of telling one what to think, Religious Science offers a powerful new way to think about god, about the universe, and about ourselves. ![]()
What will Religious Science do for me?
Religious Science teaches that as a divine creation of Spirit, you can create a life that you love! This is because there are natural spiritual laws which create our life experience based on how we think, feel, and believe. Learning to think in a whole new way brings about a better way of living.
Once we begin to realize our own true nature, as co-creative divine beings, we find health, abundance, harmonious relationships, success, a creative work life, love and peace appearing at every turn. This is because they were within us all the time.
Realization of one's own divinity is a gradually and continually unfolding process. To help people make this realization, Religious Science uses a two-part process of teaching and transformation. The teaching involves the presentation of universal ideas of truth and how to apply them. Through their application, the transformation process takes place...and your life changes for the better! ![]()
Is this Scientology or Christian Science?
No. Religious Science
, sometimes called The Science of Mind®, is in no way related to Scientology. And while we are not a Christian Science teaching, we do share some common roots. The founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, was one of the teachers of Ernest Holmes, the founder of Religious Science. Christian Scientists do not believe in the use of medical professionals to aid in healing. This is seen by followers of Christian Science as a lack of faith in the power of Spirit. ![]()
Is this a New Age teaching?
While the term New Age is being used to describe many things, Religious Science is actually a New Thought teaching. The New Thought movement began as early as 1895, although the ideas of New Thought are older than dirt. To put it succinctly, New Thought is all about what Jesus of Nazareth taught. This is not to be confused with what is taught about what he taught.
It's also about the spiritual truths to be found in Buddhism. Or Judaism. In the Koran. Or in the Bhagavad-Gita. New Thought is about the perennial philosophy, that golden thread of truth that appears, in one form or another, in every spiritual tradition in every age.
For a thorough look at the origins and history of New Thought, please consult Charles S. Braden's Spirits In Rebellion, published by Southern Methodist University Press and available at most Religious Science churches and centers. ![]()
What do Religious Scientists believe?
Religious Scientists believe that Spirit can heal through all methods, and affirm that healing can happen in an infinite number of ways. The principles on which Religious Science is founded follow this paragraph. While the language may seem unfamiliar, you'll find that these principles are the essence of the teaching of Jesus; they also express the latest understanding of quantum physics! We believe that living a spiritual life is essential to the satisfaction of the human soul. This in no way means that life can't be fun, creative, and free! The dreams we hold in our hearts for ourselves, our families, and our shared world are the dreams that Spirit is longing to create by means of you and me. By learning how the spiritual laws of this Universe work, we can learn to work with them...freeing ourselves from struggle and suffering. We can learn to create meaningful, abundant, and happy lives. ![]()
The Religious Science Declaration of Principles
So What Does New Thought Teach?
Simply, New Thought teaches the law of cause and effect; that it is done unto us as we believe; that as we sow, we do indeed reap. While the theory of New Thought or Religious Science is simple, the proof of it is in the practice.
We teach clear, easy-to-follow ways to change our belief, to sow more mindfully, and to set only those causes in motion we're happy to experience. The main practice we teach is affirmative prayer, also known as spiritual mind treatment. It's spiritual, because it deals with the spiritually based causes of what we experience. It's mental, because it happens within our own minds and hearts. And it's a treatment, because it provides tangible, definite results! Thousands of people have experienced healings of everything from terminal, inoperable cancer, depression, poverty, bad relationships, and a lack of job fulfillment.
Many Religious Science churches also will teach techniques in meditation, contemplation, mindfulness, and other forms of positive living. Whatever the vehicle, the point is to live more consciously, so that our lives become richer, fuller, and more meaningful. ![]()
