Voices For Animals
We speak for the human treatment of animals! Animals are sentient (living, feelings beings) like human beings. "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." - Gandhi "The question is not, Can they reason? Nor, Can they talk? But rather, Can they Suffer?" -Jeremy Bentham, 19th Century Philosopher, Oxford University About Us: Voices for Animals is an animal rights organization started in spring of 1998 by a group of local people concerned with animal welfare. Our Objective: Our goal is to increase public awareness about the abuse and exploitation of animals in our society. The pain and misery endured by our fellow creates for our entertainment, food, medicine, clothing and many household items is unnecessary. We hope to be able to provide education in the use of alternatives. We also hope through education to be able to teach people how to better care for their companion animals and to learn the proper way to interact with wildlife. There is a direct link between animal abuse and human abuse. By teaching young people to respect all living things, maybe someday domestic violence will be greatly decreased. Compassion begins in childhood. Join Us: Voices for Animals meets on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Hughes Library, 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA.
