Courage to Live

I was originally going to talk about “Courage to be Wealthy”, but then I received a phone call from our assistant minister, Faye Triano, telling me of the death of a cousin, Christopher Fox, son of George and June Fox of Mount Pocono.  Chris was only 28.  He has made his transition at such a young age.  But Chris is not dead, as he is an eternal being, an individual expression of God with the same qualities as God.  He has merely moved on, leaving this world and those on it behind.

I didn’t know Chris personally, but his death makes me think about Life. For many of us it takes Courage to Live Life.  There’s political unrest, drugs, violence, failing relationships, and so on.  I don’t want to dwell on the negative. But these are all this except to say these in external reality are a reflection of our internal realitythe stuff that’s going on inside of us.

I want to dwell on Life, Love, Peace, Power, Wisdom, Joy, Abundance and Beauty.  I want to learn and apply the Laws of Life, which allow me to attain all my needs and desires, to live a successful life.

It’s so easy, we just have to ask Universal Intelligence, God, and have faith.  You see, if we don’t ask, God won’t answer.  God gave us free will and doesn’t want to be where he is not wanted.  So we have to ask.  He we go half way to God, God will meet us halfway.

With my years, I’ve realized that all material things - our cars, homes, cloths, our stuff –come from the invisible spiritual word.  This has given me freedom the material world and my fears.

Yes, we all have fears:  fear of rejection, criticism, ridicule, embarrassment, dying, not having enough, or losing what we have, including love and relationships.

You see, there are 3 levels to our mind:  Conscious, Subconscious, and Unconscious

Most of us operate from our subconscious mind; a few of us try to escape life by being unconscious.  Over 90% of our thoughts that drive our behavior come from the subconscious mind.

We do and think things automatically, never wondering where the thoughts are coming from.

The subconscious mind is below the conscious mind.  We aren’t conscious of the “stuff” that lies hidden in it.  That stuff is acquired from early childhood and traumatic life events that become repressed and habitual.  That “stuff” includes our faulty beliefs, including racial (sociocultural) beliefs and conditioning, our fears,  hurts and pain.

Our mind is like an iceberg:  1/5 sits above the ocean while 4/5s sit below, hidden from our eyes.  When a ship hits that iceberg, the results are devastating, like some of our lives.

So why do we allow the subconscious mind, that lethal iceburg, to control our behavior?

·        Why don’t we “think”?

·        Why aren’t we “aware”?

·        Why aren’t we operating out of our conscious mind?

·        And what can we do about it?

God gave us free choice.  We can choose what we think.  We can replace old, deleterious  thoughts with “New Thoughts”.

We can -

·        Reprogram ourselves, replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts.

·        Take spiritual classes

·        Read Positive Thinking Books

·        Volunteer in Spiritual Organizations

·        Hang out with spiritual people

·        Develop a spiritual practice of yoga, meditation, prayer, affirmations, imagery, guided visualization, Pranayama (breathing)

It is our Choice.  We have the Power!  Use it.  Embrace Life.  Life is Good!
