Commission – 1 Jul 01
This is an auspicious time when our Country celebrates on July 4th its Freedom from tyranny and oppression. Many of us take these freedoms for granted, but they are to be cherished and nurtured. We are blessed to live in such a great country that promotes free choice and embraces diversity, not just in race, religion, age or sex, but in culture and thought. Our country reflects the intentions of God – that all men and women, including children and other living creatures, be free.
God made us individuals and as such, we have Freedom of Will, Freedom of Choice, as it could be no other way. Without these Freedoms, we would not be individuals, but automatons.
As individuals, we each must choose a mission/purpose in life. Of course, the highest purpose is to love, know and serve God.
What is a minister? One who serves God! But since God is All, a minister serves All. A Minister sees God in All - from a little cricket to a squawking blue jay, from a delicate flower to a mighty redwood, from crying infants to the dying elderly, from the earth, its deep Oceans, to the Sky and beyond – as all is God – and we are all One.
As God is Love and Goodness, a minister sees Love and Goodness in all. A minister “knows”, just doesn’t hope or believe, but “knows” this Truth.
A minister serves God, and as such, serves All. We serve God by pursuing spiritual knowledge, growing our faith, and raising our consciousness. We serve God by teaching spiritual knowledge, showing compassion, giving unconditional love, and forgiving others and ourselves.
A minister knows how to use the Law of Life and how to teach the Law to others so that they may live successful, abundant lives. For, it is in the raising up of ourselves and others that we raise human and planetary consciousness. It is in giving that we receive.
As the great teacher Jesus taught, we are each ministers when we feel it in our heart. ________has already demonstrated that Love and Goodness that is God. It sits deep in her heart. Today we are here to recognize ________.
________ has declared her commitment to Love, Know, and Serve God. She has volunteered to study and serve as a Lay Minister in One Spirit Ministries.
Our Church Board has reviewed his/her qualification and experience, and find him/her indeed a worthy ministerial candidate.
For the next year Faye will be studying and completing our ministerial program (as outlined on our website) while serving our congregation in OJT. Upon successful completion of the program, she will be duly ordained a “One Spirit” minister with all rights and benefits thereto. We invite others who would like to make such a commitment to feel free to speak to me.
Will our present candidate, please come forward.
